Kerol D oversized sweater

I think I've already mentioned my lust for all things abandoned, but I thought I may as well reiterate myself. We stumbled upon this abandoned cluster of houses, cars, etc. while headed to the Alabama Hills, and of course, pulled over immediately to check it out. In my opinion, stumbling upon hidden places such as these is the best way to experience something new. Unexpected and exciting. Anyway, I just so happened to be wearing this rad oversized sweater from Kerol D ((which I can't stop wearing)) that states "allegria" -- which is happiness. I am so down with repping happiness.

Took a trip up to the Alabama Hills this past weekend, and used every chance we could to explore. My favorite spot we checked out was this volcano near fossil falls. The vibrant red hues and unique formations were a sight to see because of this volcano erupting many many years ago (around 400,000 years). I chose to contrast the reds with this white pair from Khalo, and then accentuate the reds with the Chaser kimono. Both are impeccably designed.

Here's my second styling of the Whitney Eve tank, paired with Levi's boyfriend jeans and my Ariat boots - aka the perfect road trip outfit. Stylish and comfortable. Oh, it also paired well with the perfectly-gradient skies. If you're looking for me, you can find me under the sunset.

I felt at peace while visiting the Korean Bell of Friendship down in San Pedro and amazed by the unbelievable detail within it's architecture. This bell was given to us by Korea as a bicentennial gift to represent friendship between our two nations. The colors were so vibrant and pure, and contrasted flawlessly with the reflecting sun off of the ocean. I chose to pair some blue & green tones with this scenery, to accentuate that color. I recommend visiting this location, not only because if its significance, but to get a closer look at the detail.

While standing on this basketball court, I felt as if it was held up by the clouds, surrounded by the ocean below. I then started imagining people trying to play basketball on a floating cloud - and the face of someone who dropped the ball off of the edge. Anyway, we stumbled upon this basketball court around golden hour and I had to pair it with this sporty, 70s two piece and pretend to cheer on my fellow cloud basketball players ;)

Yesterday we journeyed south to San Pedro headed for Sunken City, the location photographed above. Sunken City has such an interesting story of how it became the way it is today. In 1929, a landslide caused the city to literally sink into the sea, leaving behind an area of ruins touching the ocean shore. Many decades ago, this was surely a tragic incident, but now it is an area for street artists to be creative and people to enjoy a stunning sunset. Oh my, the sun put on a show for us last night. I couldn't wait to shoot this outfit featuring Whitney Eve & Kerol D. This is the first of three ways that I will be styling this lovely tank by Whitney Eve.

Yesterday, I took another road trip to the poppy reserve to see if they were (finally!) in bloom since we had a few days of rain a week ago. Sadly , there were only a few poppies, but this Whitney Eve dress and the colorful fabrics I brought along added that pop of color I was looking for. Even without the poppies, the reserve is still a delight because of the expansive rolling hills and the views from the different hikes throughout. The strong winds gracefully moved the fabric in such a picturesque way, and the golden hour sun lit the colors perfectly! My hair may have been a mess after this shoot, but it was all worth it.

I felt like a part of Wet Hot American Summer while wearing this get up, so I had to complete the look by taking the shoot to Mt. Pinos in the forest. I surely was not expecting snow since we left LA while it was 75 degrees outside, but it was a pleasant surprise. Let's just change the title to "Wet Cold American Winter" for now ~ luckily my Levi's jacket kept me nice and warm!

I woke up to 70 degree weather this past Saturday, and decided to spend the sunny day traveling to and wandering through the Vasquez Rocks and Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. I must say that I love living in LA because of the proximity of some of the most surreal and alluring locations nearby. While wandering through Vasquez Rocks, we stumbled upon the dying tree pictured above, withering away in beauty. Although the poppy's weren't in bloom at the reserve, the rolling hills and gradient skies made for an elegant backdrop. I can only imagine what the view will look like while covered in poppies! See you in the spring time, poppies!
