Sunrise on the Dunes | Mesquite Sand Dunes

I woke up at 4:00am in Death Valley to see the sunrise over the Mesquite Sand Dunes, and it was all kinds of magic.

The vibrant color that filled the sky, the stillness throughout the desert, and the brisk, morning air all helped in providing that magic on these dreamy dunes. So, we decided to go on an expedition to find the *untouched* sand - and, sure enough, we found just what we were looking for!

Seeing the sunrise from an enchanting location such as this always wakes me up inside. To have the ability to start off my day with something so fascinating, really sets a tone for the day. A tone of possibility, eagerness, and drive - like, yes, I can do anything in the world! ::)

I hope this post inspires you to see the sunrise from somewhere new! I'm going to end with a song I feel is perfect for this message, as it opens with the following lyric: 'We've got nothing but time, to do what we like, so let's live before we die.' Keep livin' y'all!

Welcome to Uncertain, TX ladies & gents - the city where the mysterious Caddo Lake exists and many big foot sightings have occurred! While cruising through the area, and becoming more certain about Uncertain, we stumbled upon this hauntingly beautiful wooden pathway that guides you through the swampy lake. It was unlike anything we had ever seen before, so of course we pulled over and began creating.

// chasing light //

Do you ever have one of those days where you just wake up with an itch to explore? To head out with your friends on an open road with the speakers bumping the finest spring & summer tunes? With nothing on your itinerary - only the open road ahead and that refreshing feeling? Well, I faced that the other day, so I followed my intuition and headed up the Angeles Crest Highway to Mt. Wilson. While doing so, I wanted to show off (and offer some inspo for!) a great festival look brought to you by Express

First and foremost - I have to do a little happy dance due to the bracing views and brisk air. I mean, how could you not when you're wearing that top and surrounded by mountains?

Now it's time to pretend to tie my shoes, because I want to 'casually' show you how amazing they are.

Oh and dear sunlight, thank you for gracefully backlighting my stance of contentedness.

We continued to drive up the mountain to chase that light, and we found ourselves surrounded by the most vibrant sunset. Here we are, above it all, and the colors are hypnotizing! We brought our speaker along, so we had it playing some ambient music for a nice sunset soundtrack.

Sunset, I can feel you! ::)

All in all, the experience was revitalizing and I'm happy I followed my intuition to head out on a day trip to the mountains. It paired nicely with this festival get-up by Express. If you guys are still searching for that perfect (and affordable!) festival look, they have so many great selects. Check out the pieces I chose below!

I always find myself yearning to go back to Mono Lake - there's something so special about that strange location, especially during a sunset. The ever-so-still water creates a crystal clear reflection - and it is mesmerizing, I tell you! This time I wanted to match the metallic-like reflections by adding a silver silhouette, so I gathered all things silver and created this funky number.

These dainty jewels by Jen Leddy were shining bright under that golden hour light. I absolutely love her designs - they add such a nice, delicate touch to any ensemble and are just fun to look at! So when I first laid eyes on that silver dress by Native Rose, I knew the jewelry + dress would be a match made in heaven. And it was ::) Peep what I'm wearing in the links below!

// '73 holiday rambler //

This modern delight was quite possibly one of the most amazing places I've ever stayed at. It's called the Homestead Modern, located in the heart of Pioneertown, and walking distance from Pappy and Harriet's. I just loved wandering around this charming location in the middle of the desert. It is surrounded by Joshua Trees, mountainous views, and is enjoyable at every hour of the day. One of the things I loved most about the Homestead Modern, was the renovated '73 Holiday Rambler on the property (shown in the first 3 photos!). For this particular shoot, I wanted to focus on the trailer, while also giving you a glimpse into the interior of the house!

When I first saw photos of the Homestead Modern, so many ideas began brewing and I knew I needed to create a look inspired by late-60s fashion with that amazing trailer. So when I first saw that yellow dress by Leon Max, all of my retro dreams came true! That yellow mixed with that rusty brown made for such a great color-scheme.

I cannot wait to release more images from our stay at this beautiful abode in Pioneertown! Stay tuned!
