// desert dreams //

It's always an adventure on the road with Darius Twin and I'm thankful for the moments we share along the way. Here's a moment from one of our adventures to El Mirage  ~~ we drove past these Joshua Trees shining in that blue hour light, with those snow-capped mountains peeking from behind, begging us to stop for some photos. So we did, and woah(!) I'm loving the light on these images. Can you tell I saw The Revenant the night before by the styling of this look? I LOVE this faux fur coat from Native Rose, and so did that blue hour light.

I felt a bit like Princess Leia during this shoot -- if you aren't sure why, well it's because this is one of the locations they shot Return of the Jedi at, and it looked even more amazing in person! We were most fascinated by the moss and ferns (as I'm sure you can tell based on our photos, ha!) but because of the moisture and fog that filled the air, the vibrant green hues appeared to have a neon glow.

As I'm sure you guys already know, I'm a huge sucker for sunsets ~ I just love how each sunset is different and illuminates the environment with a colorful glow. If you're looking for me, you'll find me under the sunset ::) This particular shoot happened while we were on our most recent adventure through the redwoods -- we stopped here at Clam Beach right as we began to see some color fill the sky! The sky was on fire that night, and so was the location we stopped at.

// the redwoods are calling //

Before the holidays, Darren and I went on an adventure up the coast to one of the most magical places in the world -- Redwoods National Park -- where the tallest trees on earth live! It was a coooold trip, but when you're walking through lush forests such as this with the freshest air, the temperature doesn't matter. I often found myself staring up at the trees, wondering how it was even possible that they could be so tall, how they could fight the force of gravity with their majestic beauty and keep soaring to the sky.

"The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always. No one has ever successfully painted or photographed a redwood tree. The feeling they produce is not transferable. From them comes silence and awe. It's not only their unbelievable stature, nor the color which seems to shift and vary under your eyes, no, they are not like any trees we know, they are ambassadors from another time.” - John Steinbeck
